As a member of our archive group you will be helping provide essential preservation for our communties art and heritage! You will be trained in a variety of archival skills whilst discovering the vast and inspiring collections from photographer Sandra George to the Craigmillar Festival Society.

The archive team is committed to breaking down barriers to accessing heritage - no prior experience needed just an enthusiasm for history and our community.

You’ll work on a variety of tasks:

  • Organising archive material

  • Scanning photographs & negatives

  • Retouching scans

  • Rehousing negatives

  • Photographing archive acquisitions

  • Cataloging our archive

  • Recording oral histories

  • Researching local history

Accessibility

The Archive Group is based in the ground floor of Craigmillar Now.

There is accessible parking on site and ramp access to the centre. This role has the option of sitting or standing dependant on your accessibility/comfort levels. Volunteers are required to use their hands regularly.

Lunches

We host a free lunch for our volunteers and local community on Mondays 1-1:30pm. All welcome
